Moreton Island Boat Trip
With courtesy of Mervyn, we are able to take on a boat ride to the famous Moreton Island on the 4th day of our trip. Do not get fooled by the appearance of this little boat, it is equipped with a fuel-powered motor strong enough to skim through the surface of the ocean. We departed from a boat ramp along Brisbane River and headed 40 minutes east towards the Tangalooma Wrecks alongside of the Moreton Island.
Fifteen vessels have been deliberately sunk on the landward side of Moreton Island to form a breakwall for small boats and a wreck dive and snorkel site. The Tangalooma Wrecks provide good diving in depths from 2-10m. Even in this shallow water, the wrecks attract an amazing amount of marine life, including wobbegongs, trevally, kingfish, yellowtail and lots of tropical fish.
As the going gets tough, the tough gets a coffee break. We decided abandon the boat on the beach and head towards the café in the ‘temptation’ island for a nice cup of Cappuccino and latte. The sun, the sand, the sea and a nice cup of coffee, what’s more can you ask for?
